Essential Web Skills for Urban Planners

Jing Zhang, FAICP, is a transportation planner at the Morgantown Monongalia MPO. Jing’s journey into web development began in 2004 with Adobe Dreamweaver. In 2019, Jing expanded his skills by diving into PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Python. Alongside traditional coding, he has also gained extensive experience working with no-code and low-code platforms such as Google Sites, Wix, Webflow, and Bubble. Jing has built and maintained websites for various initiatives within the APA community, and his side projects. Jing founded Urban Planning Post (www.UrbanPlanningPost.com) and the Planning Community (www.Planning.Community). 

Sarah Vitale, AICP serves as the Director of Civic Technology for the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council. She specializes in urban design visualization, GIS mapping, and 3D modeling, and provides planning and technical support across the Council’s projects and programs. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Social Science and a Master of Science in Planning, both from Florida State University. She is a member of the American Planning Association’s American Institute of Certified Planners and the Congress for New Urbanism.
